چکیده

Internal friction in concentrated alloys at kHz frequencies and at temperatures from 120 3 0 0 K has been studied in alpha-and beta-brasses as a function of grain size, temperature and pre-strain, and a statistical model has been proposed to account for the observations.

A Review on Friction Stir Welding of Steel

–Friction stir welding is a solid state welding technology used for welding low melting point metals, such as Al, Mg and its alloys. Later welding was conducted on dissimilar metals which also produced a better defect free joint. Tool design and welding parameters contributes a major role for producing a better weld. Material flow and friction heat are the factors that the internal factor for t...

Martensitic transformations and mobility of twin boundaries in Ni2MnGa alloys studied by using internal friction

Internal friction (IF) was measured in two non-stoichiometric Ni2MnGa alloys. Several IF peaks attributed to some restructuring of the martensitic lattice were observed below Ms. From the strain dependence of IF, the activation enthalpy for movement of twin boundaries between martensitic domains was estimated to be equal to 0.02–0.04 eV. 2003 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All ...

Activation Energies for Diffusion in Alloys

The problems involved in calculating correlation factors for diffusion in dilute alloys can be contrasted to those arising in concentrated solid solutions. As one moves from the pure element to the dilute alloy to the concentrated alloy, the calculation becomes progressively more difficult. Because of the complex atom configurations which can occur in concentrated alloys, it usually is not poss...

Internal Friction Peak in Cold-Worked ”Pure” Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys

Low frequency internal friction measurements have been made on "pure" aluminum and dilute aluminum alloys in heavily cold-worked states. A relaxation peak is observed at about 200 K(for 1Hz) even in specimens of nominally 4N or higher purity. This peak is considered to be the same as those previously reported by several researchers for dilute aluminum alloys of Cu, Mg or Ga. Among various eleme...
